So it’s the same question that probably any other candidate is asked in an interview – ‘where do you see yourself 5 years down the road ?’ For Windows 7, the closest answer is – no where ! That’s right, the end for Windows is just around the corner.
July 22, 2009, a date that most of the techies remember for the launch of Windows 7. But that date now has a preceding date to it – January 13, 2015, when the mainstream support by Microsoft ends. Recently, Microsoft announced a support termination for Windows 7 OS which in other words means it’s an end for Windows 7.
However, just to mention a note which might be a relief of sigh for existing Windows 7 users, Microsoft does not intend to end the extended support until January 14, 2020. Which means users still on Windows 7 will receive security updates but not the service pack updates.
Such a decision by Microsoft is also an intent for all Windows 7 and previous Windows OS users to upgrade to Windows 8. Or else, they would have to go through the same hassle as the users of Windows XP had to go through on April 8, 2014.
