Microsoft launched its Office 365 version which requires customers to subscribe to access it, and this release is said to be a direct a weapon towards an intended target, Google.
Office 365 is one of the many services that Microsoft has offered in the past through Cloud and with the development of the revised and updated BPOS (Business Productivity Online Suite), the company is working towards strengthening this relationship.
Office 365 is an amalgamation of Microsoft Office desktop suite and other applications developed in the past, such as SharePoint, Lync Online, Exchange, and Office web application.
This web based version of office can be beneficial for people running small scaled industries because of the meager rate of $6 for each user every month, but not for bigger corporations as they will require a more comprehensive package, which includes the complete Office Pro Plus desktop set along with Sharepoint, Exchange, communications server tools and the online edition of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and more for $27 for each user every month, explained Ina Fried from CNet.
Office 365 will be made available in 2011, the date hasn’t been revealed as yet. Although for those eager to try it, there is a beta version available for a restricted period of time which will be conducted on a first come, first served basis as the testing spots are constrained to 2000.
